
Yura Yang Named Music Director of Saarländischen Staatsorchester
By Francisco SalazarYura Yang has been named General Music Director of the Saarländischen State Theater and artistic director of the Saarland State Orchestra.
She will begin her turned in August 2027.
In a statement General Superintendent Michael Schulz said, Yura Yang is “one of the most exciting and inspiring conductors of her generation.”
Minister of Culture Christine Streichert-Clivot added, “With her international experience, her clear artistic profile and her ability to inspire and develop an orchestra, she brings the best conditions for the General Music Directorate.”
Yang was the First Kapellmeister at Oper Leipzig since the 2024-25 season and has conducted at the Komische Oper Berlin, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, and the Semperoper Dresden.
Yang completed her conducting studies from 2009 to 2013 at the University of Music Detmold (Bachelor), and from 2018 to 2021 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich (Master).
