Carnegie Hall Announces ‘Concert for the Children and Youth of Ukraine’

Carnegie Hall has announced a “Concert for the Children and Youth of Ukraine: A Benefit for Direct Relief.”

The concert, which will be held on Oct. 23 at the Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, will showcase the Orchestra for Ukraine conducted by Christoph Eschenbach.

The evening will include soloists violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, soprano Olga Kulchynska, mezzo-soprano Emily D’Angelo, tenor Matthew Polenzani, and bass-baritone Vladyslav Buialskyi. The evening will also showcase the Ukrainian Chorus Dumka of New York and the Oratorio Society of New York. Liev Schreiber will host the evening.

The concert will include Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, music by the Ukrainian composer Valentyn Silvestrov, and music by John Williams, among others.

The concert will see proceeds support Direct Relief, a humanitarian aid nonprofit organization that provides urgently needed medical supplies to relief groups and families on the ground in Ukraine.
