The Canadian Opera Company is set to present Berg’s “Wozzeck” in William Kentridge’s production.

The work will be shown for seven performances at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts between April 25 and May 16, 2025.

Kentridge’s production has been performed at the Salzburg Festival and Metropolitan Opera and OperaWire noted, “this production is the perfect companion to this opera in its complexity and ability to pack so much information into such a small space.”

COC Music Director Johannes Debus leads the COC Orchestra with a cast that includes Michael Kupfer-Radecky in the title role, Ambur Braid as Marie, and Michael Schade as the Captain.

The cast will also include Anthony Robin Schneider, Matthew Cairns, Krisztina Szabó, Owen McCausland, Michael Colvin, Duncan Stenhouse, and Korin Thomas-Smith.
