Camilla Nylund Replaces Diana Damrau at Berlin Philharmonic Concert

By Francisco Salazar

The Berlin Philharmonic has announced a cast change for its upcoming stream on Feb. 27, 2021. Soprano Camilla Nylund will replace Diana Damrau in a concert dedicated to Richard Strauss.

In a statement, the organization noted, “due to the current Covid-19 regulations, Diana Damrau is unable to travel to Berlin for the concert on 27 February conducted by Christian Thielemann. Camilla Nylund takes over the soprano part in Richard Strauss’ orchestral songs.”

Nylund joins Christian Thielemann and will perform R. Strauss songs. The program also includes music by Busoni, Hindemith, and J. Strauss Jr.

Nylund is one of the most in-demand dramatic sopranos around the world. She has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, Royal Opera House, San Francisco Opera, and Bayerische Staatsoper, among other houses.

Audiences can watch the live stream on the Berlin Philharmonic’s Digital Concert Hall platform.
