Brooklyn Art Song Society (BASS) has announced the artists selected for its 2026–27 Young Artist Program, a year-long professional development and performance initiative supporting emerging singers and collaborative pianists with a deep commitment to the art song repertoire.

The 2026–27 artists include soprano Bridget Esler, mezzo-soprano Katherine Lerner Lee, baritone Erik Grendahl, and pianists Anna Sunmin Park and Brock Tjosvold.

The artists were chosen through a highly competitive audition process, these artists were selected for their musical rigor, interpretive depth, and shared belief in song as a uniquely intimate and essential art form. The program was conceived in response to the evolving realities of the profession and the need for flexible, sustainable models of artistic development.

In a statement, Michael Brofman, Artistic Director of Brooklyn Art Song Society said, “The level across the auditions was extraordinarily high, Hearing so many deeply committed artists one after another was genuinely inspiring, and it left me feeling incredibly optimistic about the future of art song.”
