Brindley Sherratt Organizes Fundraising Concert for The Meath Epilepsy Char

Opera singer Brindley Sherratt and his family have announced a special concert in aid of The Meath Epilepsy Charity.

The concert, which was postponed from April 2020 due to the COVID pandemic, will feature a host of world-renowned singers at Glyndebourne Opera House on April 10, 2022.

Brindley’s daughter Amy is 31-years-old and has a rare metabolic disorder, learning difficulties, and complex epilepsy, with up to ten seizures a day. Her condition means that she cannot be left alone and, since 2016, she has lived at The Meath, a residential care home for people with complex epilepsy and disabilities. The Meath has been life-changing for Amy as it has encouraged her to have the independence she craves, while ensuring that she is always safe.

In a statement, Amy Sherratt said, “For me, The Meath means I have made good friends and I have a very busy week! Having so many seizures is hard but I know I am safe and my friends understand because they have problems too. I’m excited about this concert at Glyndebourne because I love the opera world and meeting Dad’s friends!”

Brindley and his wife Christina have organized the concert to raise vital funds for The Meath, which is currently full, with a long waiting list. The concert will showcase such acclaimed singers Fleur Barron, Jennifer France, Elizabeth Llewellyn, Sally Mathews, Huw Montague Rendall, Rachel Nicholls, Alexandra Oomens, Mark Padmore CBE, Brindley Sherratt, Nicky Spence, and Freddie De Tommaso, who are donating their time to perform. Matthew Fletcher and Caroline Jaya Ratnam will accompany while the pledge-master will be Adrian Biddell.

The singers will perform popular arias and ensembles from opera and musicals and there will be a short screening of The Meath Choir film.

The money raised from the concert will fund a variety of life-enriching projects for residents of The Meath.
