
Brenda Rae, Jamie Barton, Daniela Mack, Aigul Khismatullina, Mané Galoyan, Sylvia D’Eramo Headline Seattle Opera’s 2026-27 Season
By David SalazarSeattle Opera has announced its 2026-27 season, featuring six productions presented between October 2026 and May 2027 at McCaw Hall and the Opera Center.
The season opens with Strauss’s “Salome,” returning to Seattle Opera for the first time since 2002. The production is directed by Bruno Ravella and conducted by Benjamin Manis. Soprano Brenda Rae sings the title role, with Chad Shelton as Herod, Jennifer Johnson Cano as Herodias, Michael Kupfer-Radecky as Jochanaan, and Joseph Tancredi as Narraboth.

In November, mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton appears in recital at the Opera Center. Barton previously appeared with Seattle Opera as Fenena in “Nabucco.”

December brings the return of Anita Spritzer in “Gay Apparel,” a holiday-themed operatic cabaret presented at McCaw Hall.

The new year begins with the Seattle premiere of “El último sueño de Frida y Diego” by composer Gabriela Lena Frank and librettist Nilo Cruz. Conducted by Carolyn Kuan and directed by Lorena Maza, the opera stars Daniela Mack and Alfredo Daza in the title roles, with Mei Gui Zhang as Catrina and Jake Ingbar as Leonardo.

In March, Seattle Opera presents Delibes’s “Lakmé” in concert, returning to the company for the first time since 2000. Soprano Aigul Khismatullina sings the title role, joined by David Portillo, Christian Pursell, Nicholas Newton, and Hongni Wu. Daniela Candillari conducts.
Performance Date(s): March 5 & 7, 2027
The season concludes with Puccini’s “La bohème“ in a production directed by James Robinson and conducted by Roberto Kalb. The cast includes Sylvia D’Eramo and Mané Galoyan as Mimì, Long Long and Anthony Ciaramitaro as Rodolfo, and Szymon Mechliński and Luke Sutliff as Marcello.
There will also be a special performance of the opera for students and school groups on May 18, 2027.
