Boston Lyric Opera & Operabox.tv Unveil Teaser for ‘Desert In’

Operabox.tv and the Boston Lyric Opera have unveiled a new teaser trailer for its upcoming eight-part opera series “Desert in.”

The two-minute trailer presents a wide range of images featuring the series’ many stars, including Isabel Leonard, Talise Trevigne, Raviv Ullman, Anthony Michael Lopez, and Justin Vivian Bond.

The work follows the story of a married female couple (played by Leonard and Trevigne) who run a motor lodge where guest pay to be reunited with lost loves.

The work was co-created by composer Ellen Reid, playwright and screenwriter Christopher Oscar Peña, and director James Darrah. Among the writers/librettists for the show are Kirsten Greenidge, Ryan J. Haddad, Quentin Nguyen-duy, A. Rey Pamatmat, Roxie Perkins, and Jesse J. Sanchez.

The opera is set to premiere on June 3, 2021 in time for Pride Month. The work, which was commissioned by Boston Lyric Opera, is being produced in association with Long Beach Opera.
