By David Salazar

Bloomington Opera Camp is set to present “El Imperio de la Luz – The Empire of Act” on June 7, 2025 at Harmony School, Bloomington, Indiana.

The showcase, which kicks off at 3 p.m. local time, will be presented in English, Spanish, and Quechua, and brings together “youth and elders, amateurs and professionals, instrumentalists, designers, administrators, and storytellers—all producing and performing opera side by side in a truly multidisciplinary experience.”

“The Opera Camp™ is designed to return the field to the original means of the Opera: a highly collaborative spectacle for everyone, not just a few professionals or elites. This is doing Opera as it was always meant to be: all the arts coming together to serve the whole society,” said Diego Barbosa-Vásquez, Founder and Music, Artistic & General Director, per an official press release.

The work has a duration of 45 minutes and is free and open to the public. There will be a reception with the cast and creative team following the performance.
