The Berlin Philharmonic will perform at the Gothenburg Concert Hall on May 2, 2027.
This is the first time the orchestra appears in the Swedish city in more than three decades. The concert will open the ensemble’s Nordic tour, which will continue with stops in Stockholm, Aarhus, and Copenhagen.
Chief Conductor Kirill Petrenko will lead the orchestra in a program featuring Grieg’s Piano Concerto, with Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes as soloist, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6.
“This is a momentous occasion for all music lovers,” said Anna-Karin Larsson, CEO of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, per an official press release. “What we offer in return is our unique hall with its well-renowned acoustics, our city, and our wonderful audience. I am proud and honored that the Berliner Philharmoniker has chosen to open its Nordic tour in Gothenburg.”
The concert is made possible with generous support from the Stena Foundation.
