Berkshire Opera Festival to Present ‘Faust’
By Francisco SalazarThe Berkshire Opera Festival is set to present a new production of Charles Gounod’s “Faust.”
The production will star tenor Duke Kim, Raquel González, Justin Hopkins, Sun-Ly Pierce, and Abbegael Greene.
In a statement, conductor and Berkshire Opera Festival Co-Founder Brian Garman said, “BOF enters the realm of French grand opera for the first time with these performances of Faust. We’re thrilled to be able to do it with the remarkable talents of this internationally acclaimed cast as we begin our residency at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center.”
Of BOF’s new production, Stage Director and BOF Co-Founder Jonathon Loy added, “I’m very excited to produce Faust this summer. Gounod’s romantic music is exquisite, and everyone will be familiar with the tale of the old man, Dr. Faust, who sells his soul to the devil, for a chance to be young and fall in love, just one more time. You won’t be surprised that this deal does not work out so well for the mortal parties involved.”
“Faust” will be performed on August 24, 27, and 30, 2024.
