‘Beethoven’s Wrong Note’ Gets New York Run This July
By David Salazar“Beethoven’s Wrong Note” will receive its New York run as part of the Midtown International Theatre Festival, with performances at the American Theatre of Actors beginning July 2.
The 2024 Perry Award winner for Best Original Musical follows Ludwig van Beethoven on the morning of February 11, 1804, as he strikes a Faustian deal with librettist Emanuel Schikaneder in an effort to win back his Immortal Beloved. The show stages a fictional dress rehearsal of Beethoven’s little-known opera “Vestal Flame” within a larger musical combining rock, classical music, dance, and drama.
James Harkness (“Ain’t Too Proud”) stars as Beethoven and Jay Stephenson (“Shame of Thrones: The Rock Musical”) as Schikaneder. They are joined by Elizabeth Treat, Riad Ymeri, Hayden DeWitt, Dante Zuccaro, Mikayla Cintrón, and Jay Gould. Stephenson also directs, with musical direction by James Higgins.
Performances run through July 5, 2026 at the American Theatre of Actors.
