Bayerische Staatsoper Terminates Children’s Choir Director

By Francisco Salazar

The Bayerische Staatsoper has terminated Stellario Fagone contract.

According to reports from BR Klassik, the director of the children’s choir has been out of office since March 7.  The Bayerische Staatsoper and Faone have remained silent regarding the reasons for the dismissal.

However, the chorus wrote a letter to the minister of culture Markus Blume, and to the music director Vladimir Jurowski demanding the reinstatement of the acting chorusmaster. The letter spoke of the “paternal role” that Fagone cultivated in a “family and warm atmosphere.”

Fagone began working with the company in 2003, initially as a répétiteur and 2019 under artistic director Nikolaus Bachler, was appointed acting choir director.
