Bayerische Staatsoper Announces Change for ‘Die Fledermaus’

The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced a change for its final “Die Fledermaus” on Jan. 10, 2024.

The company said, “Dear visitors, We would like to inform you about the following change: In today’s performance ‘Die Fledermaus,’ Diana Damrau will stage the role of Rosalinde and speak the dialogues. Laura Aikin will sing the vocals from the side.”

Aikin is an American operatic coloratura soprano who is noted for her interpretation of Lulu and has also performed such roles as the Queen of the Night and Zerbinetta.

“Die Fledermaus” is set to star Georg Nigl, Martin Winkler, Eric Jurenas, Sean Panikkar, Markus Brück, Kevin Conners, and Katharina Konradi. Vladimir Jurowski conducts the production by Barrie Kosky.
