By Chris Ruel

The “bauhaus / music weekend” will mark the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus Week 1923, which was centered on music. The event will showcase a musical premiere and present the initial findings of a research project headed by musicologist and project manager Dr. Kai Hinrich Müller, Ph.D., along with an interdisciplinary team of researchers at the Bauhaus-Archiv in Berlin.

The weekend is slated to take place from September 22 – 24, 2023, in the Meistersaal Berlin.

Soprano Tehila Nini Goldstein is scheduled to perform.

The “bauhaus / music weekend” will focus on works directly related to the Bauhaus, including compositions by influential musical figures who visited the Bauhaus, such as Ruth Crawford Seeger, Kurt Weill, and Paul Arma, as well as works by members of the Bauhaus community. The repertoire will also feature the jazz music of the legendary Bauhaus Orchestra, which existed from 1923 to 1933.

Alongside the concerts, there will be discussions with experts and musicians, highlighting the role of music at the Bauhaus.
