The Metropolitan Opera’s 2025–26 Live in HD season will continue with Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” on May 2, 2026.
The performance will star Asmik Grigorian as Tatiana baritone Iurii Samoilov in the title role, Maria Barakova as Olga, Stanislas de Barbeyrac as Lenski, and Alexander Tsymbalyuk as Prince Gremin. Conductor Timur Zangiev leads the production by Deborah Warner.
Gary Halvorson will direct the Live in HD presentation for cinemas, and mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato will host the transmission, sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes content and interviews during the intermissions.
The May 2 performance of “Eugene Onegin” will mark the opera’s 165th performance at the Met and fourth Live in HD transmission to cinemas worldwide.
When the opera opened on April 20, OperaWire said, “Stanislas de Barbeyrac gave the most compelling performance of the night as Lenski.”
