Asheville Symphony Sets Star-Studded ‘Messiah’ Performances

There will be three total performances of the work with a matinee and evening show on the 23rd.
The performance stars soprano Jessica Beebe, a member of the Grammy-nominated ensemble The Crossing. She is joined by Grammy-nominated countertenor and choral director Timothy Parsons, who has premiered Ellen Reid’s “p r i s m” and Du Yun’s “Angel’s Bone,” both at the Prototype Festival. Parsons has also been a member of the Choir of Trinity Wall Street and the Clarion Choir.
Tenor Brian Giebler, who has appeared with The English Concert, The Cleveland Orchestra, the Prototype Festival, and Boston Baroque, among others, is the third soloist on the evening.
The quartet of solo singers is rounded out by Jonathan Whody, who previously served as Artistic Advisors for the Portland Baroque Orchestra and has performed with Boston Early Music Festival, Apollo’s Fire, Pacific MusicWorks, Bach Collegium San Diego, Trinity Baroque Orchestra, and New York Baroque Incorporated, among others.
