This week the Met revives “Rigoletto” for the second time this season. The company has assembled yet another star cast that includes one of the most anticipated debuts of the season, Pene Pati.
Pati will bring his acclaimed Duke of Mantua, a role he has performed all over the world including at the Wiener Staatsoper and Staatsoper Berlin as well as at the San Francisco Opera. For his turn as the Duke, OperaWire wrote, “Pati as the Duke casts such a spell, that even the beautiful aria, “Parmi veder le lagrime,” compels us to question, at least for a second, whether this man does love the innocent Gilda after all.”
Over the years Pati has performed at some of the most prestigious houses in the world including the San Francisco Opera, Opéra Comique, Opéra National de Bordeaux, Staatsoper Berlin, Dutch National Opera, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Wiener Staatsoper, Opéra de Rouen Normandie, and Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, among many others. His repertoire includes the works of Mozart, Massenet, Donizetti, Gounod, Puccini, and Verdi.
For those not in New York, Pati will tour Massenet’s “Werther” in France and Switzerland. He also performs “La Boheme” in San Francisco, Chicago, and Munich.
Recordings
To listen further to the tenor, Pati has two solo albums for Warner Classics and a DVD of Mitridate from the Berlin State Opera.
