Anna Netrebko, Jonas Kaufmann, Diana Damrau, Ekaterina Semenchuk & Christian Gerhaher Lead Musikverein Wien’s 2021-22 Season

The famed Austrian venue Musikverein Wien has announced its 2021-22 season, featuring concerts and recitals with some of the greatest performers in the world.

Here is the full slate.

Baritone Christian Gerhaher performs works by Schönberg and Berlioz alongside seven musicians ensemble.

Performance date: Oct. 3, 2021

Soprano Ilia Papandreou, tenor Daniel Behle, and baritone Samuel Hasselhorn perform Britten‘s “War Requiem” alongside the Wiener Symphoniker.

Performance dates: Oct. 9 – 10, 2021

Tenor Daniel Behle sings music by Grieg, Schubert, and Richard Strauss alongside pianist Oliver Schnyder.

Performance date: Oct. 12, 2021

Soprano Marlis Petersen, tenor Mauro Peter, and bass-baritone Florian Boesch perform Haydn’s oratorium “Die Jahreszeiten” alongside conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada.

Performance dates: Oct. 19 – 20, 2021

A performance of Purcell’s semi-opera “The Fairy Queen” stars sopranos Mari Eriksmoen and Robin Johannsen, mezzo-soprano Patricia Nolz, tenor Andrew Staples, and bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni. Stefan Gottfried conducts the Concentus Musicus Wien.

Soprano Janel Frazee performs Copland’s “Eight poems of Emily Dickinson” alongside violinist Una Tone and the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra.

Soprano Anna Netrebko and mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Semenchuk perform excerpts from Verdi‘s “Aida,” Cilea‘s “Adriana Lecouvreur,” and Tchaikovsky‘s “The Queen of Spades.” Andrés Orozco-Estrada conducts the Wiener Symphoniker.
