Du Yun and Royce Vavrek’s Pulitzer Prize-winning contemporary opera “Angel’s Bone” is set to make its UK premiere.
Together the English National Opera (ENO) and Factory International present the new production directed by Kip Williams. Kantos Chamber Choir and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra are among performers.
Vavrek’s libretto explores the dark forces that drive people into human trafficking. This is underpinned with Yun’s score ranging from chamber music and cabaret to electronica to punk. “Angel’s Bone” also features spoken word.
The opera premiered at the Prototype Festival in 2016. It was originally commissioned by the Mann Center for the Performing Arts alongside Beth Morrison Projects.
“Angel’s Bone” will be staged at Aviva Studios from May 12-16, 2026.
