Angela Gheorghiu Reveals Roles She Wants to Sing

Angela Gheorghiu has revealed roles that she would like to sing in the future.

In a recent interview with Reader’s Digest, the soprano said that she still wants to perform “Fedora” and “Manon Lescaut” in the near future.

She said, “It would probably be Puccini’s ‘Manon Lescaut’ or Giordano’s ‘Fedora,’ which I only recorded. I searched for different opportunities, but there always was something that did not work, whether a dull, ridiculous production or an unsuitable cast. For Fedora, I keep hearing that the title would not sell, which is wrong, because the leading artists are the ones that sell, not the director, not anybody else. ”

Gheorghiu was originally set to debut “Manon Lescaut” at the Teatro Massimo Palermo in 2020 but canceled. She recorded “Fedora” in 2011 with Placido Domingo and Alberto Veronesi.

The soprano is currently promoting her new album “A te, Puccini” which is set for release later this month. Gheorghiu is set to perform “La Boheme” at the Royal Opera House.
