
Andreas Schager Named Kammersänger of the Wiener Staatsoper

The company announced the news via social media and said, “Yesterday, the Austrian heldentenor was awarded the Austrian professional title ‘Kammersänger.’ Currently, he is in the Ring Cycle at the Wiener Staatsoper, as Siegmund and Siegfried.”
Schager is one of the leading Wagnerian tenors in the world who has performed at major theaters like the Metropolitan Opera, Opéra de Bastille, Bayerische Staatsoper, Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Hamburg, Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Real de Madrid, Opernhaus Zürich, and Oper Frankfurt, among others.
His repertoire includes “Tristan und Isolde,” “Parsifal,” “Siegfried,” “Götterdämmerung,” “Die ägyptische Helena,” “Daphne,” “Lohengrin,” “Die Frau ohne Schatten,” and “Der Freischütz.”
