Ana María Martínez to Attend the Oscars for ‘Viva Verdi!’
By Francisco SalazarAna María Martínez will grace the red carpet at the 2025 Oscars for her film “Viva Verdi!”
The soprano will join Oscar nominee Nicholas Pike and director Yvonne Russo and producer Christine La Monte for annual awards ceremony on March 15, 2026.
The film is nominated for Best Original Song for “Sweet Dreams of Joy” and Martínez joins Luciano Pavarotti and Sumi Jo as the few opera singers who have been featured as a soloist for Best Original Song.
However, Martínez will not perform at the ceremony.
As previously reported, only two of the five nominated songs will be performed. In January, a letter was sent to all music nominees and noted that only two of the songs nominated for Best Original Song would be performed. The broadcast will include “Golden” from the animated musical “KPop Demon Hunters” and “I Lied to You” from the drama “Sinners.”
“Viva Verdi!” is an intimate glimpse into the lives of the celebrated opera singers and musicians currently living out their ‘third act’ by following the residents aged 77 to 107 as they continue to perform, and mentor young music students who live among them Casa Verdi, Milan’s unique retirement home built by Giuseppe Verdi in 1896.
