Ambur Braid & Anett Fitsch Lead New CD/DVD Releases

This week, audiences are set to discover rarely performed works from the verismo and baroque period. There will be a few world premiere releases.

The Island

Avie Records releases “The Island” by American soprano Susan Narucki, an album curated and featuring a unique set of art songs. It consists of a collection of songs, chiefly by women, written in the first half of the 20th century, some of them receiving their world premiere recording here. Donald Berman plays the piano.

We Breathless Stand

The 104th anniversary of the inauguration of the Grand Canyon National Park will be celebrated with composer Jeff Beal releasing  “We Breathless Stand” on Categorical Records. The record is performed by the United States Army Field Band.

Rappresentatione di Anima et di Corpo

Emilio de’ Cavalieri’s “Rappresentatione di Anima et di Corpo” premiered in 1600 in Rome and is set to be released through Naxos. This production by acclaimed director Robert Carsen stars Anett Fritsch, Carlo Vistoli,  Cyril Auvity, Daniel Schmutzhard, Georg Nigl, and Florian Boesch. The production is from the Theater an der Wien and is conducted by Giovanni Antonini.

Siberia

C Major releases Giordano’s rarely performed work starring Ambur Braid, Clarry Bartha, Alexander Mikhailov, Scott Hendricks, and Fredrika Brillembourg from the Bregenz Festival. Valentin Uryupin conducts the Vienna Symphony and Prague Philharmonic Choir in a production by Vasily Barkhatov.
