In a statement, Jordi Bernàcer said “Verdi is fundamental for all of us who love 19th-century melodrama, but especially for those who today have the privilege of studying it and bringing it to life in our theaters. He is not only the genius who surprises us with each of his works, all pearls that make up a necklace of masterpieces but the very man who transforms opera starting from the forms established in the early 19th century and slowly transfiguring it through his works. Verdi is not only witness to a century of changes in all aspects, but the protagonist and engine of the transformation of Music in Europe.”
