Amargosa Opera House Launches Go Fund Me Campaign

By David Salazar

The company behind the Amargosa Opera House has launched a Go Fund Me campaign to help preserve the company into the future.

The Opera House, which is located at the Death Valley Junction, was run by Marta Becket from the 1960s until her death in 2017. But the company has struggled due to the COVID-19 crisis and with expenses of $5,000 to $6,000 per month the organization has had to dip into its reserve fund, which is running short.

The goal of the campaign is $48,000 and as of this writing the company has raised close to $19,000.

“At stake is the potential permanent closure of this oasis in the desert where patrons from around the world have come to enjoy and celebrate Marta and the town of Death Valley Junction,” Fred Conboy, President of the organization’s Board of Directors, stated on the campaign’s official page.
