The Metropolitan Opera has announced a cast change for Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro.”

The company announced that Amanda Woodbury will sing the Countess in all upcoming performances replacing Anita Hartig, who is ill.

The American soprano won the Met’s National Council Auditions and has performed with the company since 2015. At the Met she has performed Leïla in Bizet’s “Les Pêcheurs de Perles,” Juliette in Gounod’s “Roméo et Juliette,” and Woglinde in Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen. She recently made debuts at the Glimmerglass Festival, Opera San Antonio, and the Hawaii Opera Theatre. She has also performed at Opera Omaha, LA Opera, and Hong Kong Opera.

Woodbury joins a cast that includes conductor Cornelius Meister, Hanna-Elisabeth Müller as Susanna, Marianne Crebassa as Cherubino, Etienne Dupuis as Count Almaviva, and Adam Plachetka as Figaro.

“Le Nozze di Figaro” is set to be performed on Feb. 11, 14, 19, and 22, 2020.

Hartig returns to stage in March for the Aids Gala in Germany.
