Hands Off the Arts is set to protest on Sept. 18, 2026.  

The organization will lead a joyful gathering centered on uplifting the Kennedy Center, the staff, and all the artists past, present and future who have graced her stages.

The organization has been using its platform to criticize the current Trump loyalist administration and stated, that it has “failed in their duty to the institution. The Center, a formerly dynamic and lively arts hub, sits nearly dormant. The impact is felt beyond the empty stages – as a top provider of arts education across the country, the impact of the Board’s mismanagement will be felt in communities nationwide. In our local communities, the livelihoods of local artists and staff members remain under threat. This is not the Kennedy Center you know and love. It’s not the Kennedy Center you deserve.”

The organization recently posted a video about the Kennedy Center’s ceiling collapse, which gained 148,000 views and noted that the Kennedy Center has been neglected repairs for over a year and noted that the area of roof that collapsed has been an issue since at least October of 2025.
