Alexandra Lang to Headline ‘Lift Her Voice’ at New York Public Library for the Performing Arts

The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts will feature “Lift Her Voice,” a recital celebrating Black female voices.

The event, set for Sept. 20, 2025, will feature soprano Alexandra Lang and pianist Maria Thompson Corley. The duo will perform works by Florence Price, Margaret Bonds, B.E. Boykin, and Maria Thompson Corley, as well. Corley will world premiere her “The Dream Keeper,” written for Lang.

Lang has performed with such companies as New Sussex Symphony, Mostly Modern Festival, Marquette Choral Society, Dramatic Voices Program Berlin, Promenade Opera Project, New Camerata Opera, the NEMPAC Opera Project, New York Opera Forum, New York Conductors Symphony, Utopia Opera, Peach State Opera, Nevada Opera, Cantanti Project, the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra, New York Lyric Opera Theatre, and the New York Opera Exchange Orchestra, among others.

The performance kicks off at 2 p.m. local time.
