Alena Hron Named Chief Director of South Czech Philharmonic

Alena Hron has been named Chief Conductor of The South Czech Philharmonic (Jihočeská Filharmonie).

The orchestra, which is based in Ceske Budejovice, will see Hron take the position starting in the 2024-25 season.

Hron is currently studying for her second master’s degree at the Zurich University of the Arts in the class of Johannes Schlaefli and Christoph-Mathias Mueller.

She has worked with most of the symphony orchestras in the Czech Republic including Prague Symphony Orchestra, Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, Prague Philharmonia, and South Bohemian Philharmonic. She has performed with the Janáček Philharmonic in Berlin and Paris and has also recorded a complete orchestral work by the Czech composer Vítězslava Kapralová.
