Accademia di Santa Cecilia Names New President & Superintendent

The Accademia di Santa Cecilia has announced that Maestro Massimo Biscardi will be its new President and superintendent.

The board of the organization noted that Biscardi received a 2/3 vote which was necessary for him to be named in the new position. Biscardi will take his new position in February 2025.

Biscardi has performed as a pianist and conductor with the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Teatro Colòn de Buenos Aires, Arena di Verona, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Teatro di San Carlo, and the Orchestra Alessandro Scarlatti di Napoli. From 1992 to 2010, he was Artistic Director of the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, and from 2012 to 2014, Artistic Consultant of the Orchestra Mozart. In 2014, he became superintendent and Artistic Director of the Fondazione Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari.

He was awarded the Premio Abbiati in 2001.
