The Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced a cast change for its production of Puccini’s “Turandot.”

The company said for the performances on Feb. 1, 7, and 14, 2025, Jorge Puerta takes over the role of Calaf from Clay Hilley.

For his part, Puerta said, “!BREAKING NEWS! I couldn’t be happier to return to my house Deutsche Oper Berlin to sing Calaf in G. Puccini’s iconic TURANDOT! Bis bald!”

Puerta has been an ensemble member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin and has performed Gabriele Adorno in “Simon Boccanegra.”  He has also performed at the Teatro Municipal in Santiago de Chile and Semperoper Dresden.

The tenor is set to join a cast of Saioa Hernández, Clemens Bieber, Sua Jo, Maria Motolygina, and Byung Gil Kim. Jordan de Souza conducts the production by Lorenzo Fioroni.
