Andrés Orozco-Estrada has been named the new Music Director of the Orchestra Rai.

The Colombian-Austrian conductor will take the position in October 2023 and will hold it for an initial three years.

The conductor debuted with the Orchestra Rai in May 2022 in a concert that included music by Richard Strauss. According to a press release “That concert started a relationship between the orchestra and the conductor.

Orozco-Estrada was recently named the Music Director of the Oper Koln where he will begin his tenure during the 2025-26 season.

The conductor was previously the Music Director of the Frankfurt Symphony from 2014 to 2021 and was also the Music Director of the Houston Symphony from 2014 to 2022. He also led the Vienna Symphony from 2020 to 2022.
