Michael Spyres, Véronique Gens, Paula Murrihy, Jakub Josef Orlinski, Francesca Aspromonte Headline Château de Versailles Spectacles’ 2023-24 Season

The Château de Versailles Spectacles has announced its 2023-24 season.

For the purposes of this article, our focus will be solely on vocal performances.

John Eliot Gardiner will lead the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique in Berlioz’s “Les Troyens.” The opera stars Michael Spyres, Paula Murrihy, and Alice Coote, among others.

Performance Dates: August 29, 2023

Soprano Marie Perbost will join the Orchestre de l’Opéra Royal and conductors Gaétan Jarry and Stefan Plewniak in a Gala concert de l’Ador.

Performance Dates: Oct. 1, 2023

William Christie leads Les Arts Florissants in Händel’s “Ariodante.” The opera stars Lea Desandre, Hugh Cutting, Kresimir Spicer, and Ana Maria Labin, among others.

Performance Dates: Oct. 8, 2023

Franco Fagioli, Adèle Charvet, Krystian Adam, Valentino Buzza, Nicolò Balducci, and Florie Valiquette headline Zingarelli’s “Roméo et Juliette.” Stefan Plewniak conducts the Choeur and Orchestre de l’Opéra Royal with Gilles Rico directing the production.

Performance Dates: Oct. 18-23, 2023

Marhsall Pynkoski directs “Don Giovanni,” which will be conducted by Gaétan Jarry. The opera stars Robert Gleadow, Arianna Vendittelli, Florie Valiquette, Riccardo Novaro, Jean-Gabriel Saint Martin, Engerrand de Hys, Éléonore Pancrazi, and Nicolas Certenais.

Marc Minkowski conducts Les Musiciens du Louvre in “Mitridate.” The opera stars Siyabonga Maqungo, Ana Maria Labin, Carlo Vistoli, and Adriana Bignagni.

Gaétan Jarry conducts “The Crown,” which features music by Händel and Purcell. The Choeur et Orchestre de l’Opéra Royal will feature.

Performance Dates: Jan. 24, 2024

Mathias Vidal, Chantal Santon Jeffery, and Marc Labonnette headline “Don Quichotte Chez La Duchesse” by Boismortier. Hervé Niquet conducts Le Concert Spirituel with Corinne and Gilles Benizio directing.

Stefan Plewniak leads a concert with three countertenors, including Bruno de Sá, Théo Imart, and Nicolò Balducci.
