Sumi Jo International Singing Competition Announces 2026 Winners

The Sumi Jo International Singing Competition has announced its 2026 winners.

The first prize went to American baritone Trevor Haumschilt-Rocha. Haumschilt-Rocha, 27, from San Diego, California, went on to win first prize. Second prize went to South Korean bass Seungho Yoo while Romanian mezzo Paula Iancic won third prize.

The Hyundai Special Jury Prize was shared between Ukrainian soprano Evelina Liubonko and Sun Fei.

The winners were selected from 24 artists selected from 500 candidates worldwide.

The jury was comprised ex-Warner chief Alain Lanceron, Houston casting adviser Jonathan Friend, Covent Garden administrator Mélanie Allmendinger, La Scala’s Paolo Gavazzeni and the tenor Marcelo Álvarez.
