Renée Fleming to Star in Memphis Symphony Orchestra Gala & Health Panel Discussion

On September 8, 2022, the Memphis Symphony Orchestra is a set present a gala showcase starring soprano Renée Fleming.

The performance, which will take place at the Cannon Center for Performing Arts, will be conducted by Music Director Robert Moody. Audiences will hear a wide range of music including opera classics as well as jazz and Broadway tunes. There will even be a few pop songs written for the famed soprano.

The performance will be preceded by a panel discussion entitled “Music and the Mind” featuring the soprano. The panel will take place on Sept. 7, 2022 at the FedEx Institute of Technology in Memphis, and will focus on the connections between the arts and health. Fleming has been an advocate for the relationship between music and health and was recently a major participant in Los Angeles County Arts and Health Week.

The famed soprano’s 2022-23 season will include a return to the Metropolitan Opera as well as performances with Washington Performing Arts, Konzerthaus Berlin, Carnegie Hall, the LA Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Fortas Chamber Music Concerts, the Opéra National de Paris, the Oregon Symphony, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, among others.
