Staatsoper Hamburg Announces Cast Change for ‘Szenen aus Goethes Faust’

The Staatsoper Hamburg has announced a cast change for its Sept. 18 and 21 performances of Schumann’s “Szenen aus Goethes Faust.”

The company noted that Mojca Erdmann will replace Katharina Konradi as Gretchen, Not, Seliger Knabe, Una Poenitentium, Soprano Solo.

Erdmann is a well known soprano who has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Gran Teatro del Liceu, Teatro alla Scala, Bayerische Staatsoper, Nederlandse Opera, Staatsoper Berlin, and Salzburg Festival, among others. This season she is also set to perform “Dialogues des Carmélites” at the Staatsoper Hamburg.

The soprano will join a cast that includes Christian Gerhaher, Franz-Josef Selig, Katja Pieweck, Marie-Dominique Ryckmanns, Benjamin Bruns, and Renate Spingler. Kent Nagano conducts the concert performances.
