The Met AGMA Negotiating Committee has reached a tentative agreement with the Metropolitan Opera.

In a social media post, the Met Opera Supers revealed that the agreement would allow for bridge payment to remain in effect. The new agreement will enter into the ratification phase starting on May 24, 2021.

This latest news is a positive step for the Metropolitan Opera as the company seeks to reopen its doors on time to start the 2021-22 season this September.

The company has been under fire all year long for its treatment of workers, particularly the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra which is set to hold a rally this Thursday in Lincoln Center calling for a fair contract.

The event will feature members of Local 802, AGMA, SEIU, Local 817, American Guild of Theatre Artists, and more. All rally members will be required to wear a mask.

Other unions, particularly IATSE Local One, have stated publicly that the Met will not open on time due to the company’s inability to reach an agreement on the laborers it represents.
