Michael Fabiano, Lucy Crowe, Alice Coote, Danielle De Niese Headline Glyndebourne’s Summer 2021 Streaming Slate

The Glyndebourne Open House series is set to return this May with four streamed operas on its official website and YouTube channel.

“Last year’s Open House broadcasts were hugely popular so we’re delighted to be offering more free online operas, and hope that people will once again take the opportunity to create their own Festival experience at home,” said Stephen Langridge, Artistic Director of Glyndebourne, in a press release. “Alongside that, our collaboration with Marquee TV is a chance to experience this summer’s concert series, in which some of the greatest symphonies ever written will be heard on the Glyndebourne stage for the first time, from the comfort of your living room.”

First up will be a 2012 production of “The Cunning Little Vixen” starring Lucy Crowe, Emma Bell, Mischa Schelomianski, and Sergei Leiferkus. Vladimir Jurowski conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Streaming Date: May 23 – June 6, 2021

 Next up is a production of Rossini’s seminal “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” conducted by Enrique Mazzolla and starring Danielle de Niese, Alessandro Corbelli and Björn Bürger. The production hails from 2016.

Streaming Date: June 13 – June 27, 2021

Mozart lovers will be happy to check out a 2017 rendition of “La Clemenza di Tito directed by Claus Guth. The production starred Richard Croft, Alice Coote, Clive Bayley, Anna Stéphany, and Michèle Losier. Robin Ticciati conducted.

Streaming Date: July 4-18, 2021

And then to close out the summer, the festival will stream a 2014 production of “La Traviata” headlined by Venera Gimadieva and Michael Fabiano. Sir Mark Elder conducted.
