Edinburgh International Festival Announces Reimagined 2021 Season

By Francisco Salazar

The Edinburgh International Festival has announced a reimagined festival for 2021 which will mark the return of live performances to Scotland’s capital.

The festival will take place between August 7 and 29 and will use outdoor venues to safely reunite artists and audiences. The festival will use a selection of performance spaces across the city including three temporary outdoor pavilions designed for live performance at the Edinburgh Park and the University of Edinburgh’s Old College Quad.

There will also be covered concert stages and socially distanced seating.

The festival is working with the Scottish Government, City of Edinburgh Council, and other relevant authorities to implement appropriate Covid safety measures and there will be shorter performances with no intervals, physical distancing, regular cleaning, and contactless ticketing. The festival will also release a selection of high-quality streamed performances free of charge.

Full 2021 program details will be announced on June 2, 2021.
