The Oratory Society of New York will present Handel’s Messiah directed by Kent Tritle beginning on Dec. 21, 2020, which can be viewed free digitally at the company’s official website.

In accordance with its annual tradition, Tritle will have 24 members of the chorus and 12 instrumentalists under his baton. The soloists for the performance will include soprano soloist Susanna Phillips, alto Heather Petrie, tenor Joshua Blue, and baritone Sidney Outlaw.

As a special treat, the “Hallelujah Chorus” will feature additional video appearances from across the Oratorio Society’s wider membership, all filmed separately.

Handel’s “Messiah” is a staple of the holiday season and the Oratorio Society of New York has been one of the big champions of maintaining the tradition of performing the work throughout this season. Due to ongoing concerns over COVID-19, the company endeavored to ensure a filmed performance of the work would be possible and did so outdoors following CDC guidelines.
