
Colombia’s National Symphony Orchestra & National Chorus to Present Mozart Festival at Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo
By David SalazarThe National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia and the National Chorus of Colombia will present a three concert Mozart Festival at Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo in Bogotá, marking the 270th anniversary of the composer’s birth.
There are two vocal showcases throughout the festival.
First up, Juan Pablo Valencia, associate conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, leads a program featuring soprano Eliana Piedrahíta as the soloist in “Exsultate, jubilate,” K. 165. The showcase also includes the Sinfonia concertante for oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon, K. 297b and Symphony No. 41 in C major, “Jupiter,” K. 551. Soloists for the Sinfonia concertante include oboist Tamas Balla, clarinetist Christopher Jepperson, hornist Dante Yenque and bassoonist Édgar Sánchez.
Performance Date: Oct. 9, 2026
The final concert will star Argentine conductor Natalia Salinas leading the orchestra and the National Chorus of Colombia in the Requiem in D minor, K. 626 with soprano Eliana Piedrahíta, mezzo soprano Laura Mosquera, tenor Julián Henao and baritone Juan David González as the soloists. Additionally, Violinist Esther Yoo will headline the Violin Concerto No. 5 in A major, K. 219. The program also includes the Overture to “The Magic Flute.”
