Marigona Qerkezi, Johan Reuter, Ian Rucker, Heidi Stober & Laura Mayer Lead Royal Danish Opera’s 2026-27 Season

The Royal Danish Opera has announced its 2026-27 season.

Opera 

Vassilis Christopoulos conducts Verdi’s “Macbeth” starring Jens Søndergaard, Marigona Qerkezi, Henning von Schulman, and Jamez McCorkle.

Performance Dates: Sept. 5-26, 2026


Massenet’s “Werther” will be conducted by Marie Jacquot and will star Elisabeth Jansson, Ava Line Shokooh, Jacob Skov Andersen, and Theodore Platt.

Performance Dates: Sept. 11-Oct. 8, 2026


Elena Schwarz and Leonard Elschenbroich conduct Kaija Saariaho’s “Innocence” with Francine Vis, Sofie Elkjær Jensen, Helena Juntunen, Magnus Vigilius, Johannes Weisser, Stephen Milling, Matilda Paulsson, Erika Hammarberg, My Johansson, Julie Hega, Rowan Kievits, Camilo Delgado Díaz, and Marina Dumont Anastassiadou.

Performance Dates: Oct. 11-Nov. 6, 2026


Dominik Beykirch conducts “La Bohème” which will star Teona Todua, Sofie Elkjær Jensen, Omer Kobiljak, Long Long, Annika Beinnes, Clara Cecilie Thomsen, Jens Søndergaard, and Rodion Pogossov.

Performance Dates: Oct. 16, 2026-Feb. 11, 2027


Marit Strindlund conducts Bizet’s “Carmen” with Anders Kampmann, Fredrik Bjellsäter, Laura Mayer, Siv Misund, and Sofie Lund.

Performance Dates: Nov. 1 & 2, 2026


Thomas Søndergård and Robert Houssart conduct Verdi’s “Falstaff” with a cast that includes Johan Reuter, Gihoon Kim, Niels Jørgen, Fredrik Bjellsäter, Kyungil Ko, Gisela Stille, Clara Cecilie Thomsen, Hanne Fischer, and Kari Dahl Nielsen.

Performance Dates: Jan. 16-March 4, 2027


The company will present the Academy Production.

Franz Schreker’s “Der ferne Klang” will be conducted by Marie Jacquot and will star Steffen Bruun, Francine Vis, Maria Bengtsson, Thomas Blondelle, William Pedersen, Stephen Milling, Ava Line Shokooh, Mathilda Sidén Silfver, Linnea Nordenback, Jens Søndergaard,  and Jens Christian Tvilum.

Performance Dates: March 7-24, 2027


Keren Kagarlitsky conducts Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus” with Fredrik Bjellsäter, Anders Kampmann, Sofie Elkjær Jensen, Gisela Stille, Martin Winkler, Jacob Skov Andersen, Magnus Løvlie, Andreas Landin, Magnus Berg, Michael Kristensen, Niels Jørgen Riis, Clara Cecilie Thomsen, Sofie Lund, Julie Husballe Hansen, Louise Engeseth, and Max Pollak.

Performance Dates: April 4-May 21, 2027


Lars Ulrik Mortensen conduct Bach’s “Light Dances” with Linnea Nordenback, Linnéa Andersson, Elisabeth Jansson, Mathilda Sidén Silfver, Gerald Geerink, Simon Duus, and William Pedersen.

Performance Dates: April 8-17, 2027


Nielsen’s “Masquerade” will be conducted by Jesper Nordin and will star Morten Staugaard, Cecilia Lund Tomter, Jonathan Koppel, Frederik Rolin, Henning von Schulman, Mathias Hedegaard, Sibylle Glosted, Ditte Errboe, and Sidsel Aja Eriksen.

Hendrik Vestmann conducts Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” with Ian Rucker, Heidi Stober, Annika Beinnes, Henning von Schulman, and Kari Dahl Nielsen.

The company will present an afternoon with the Royal Danish Chorus.

Marie Jacquot and the Royal Danish Orchestra lead Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5. The concert also includes Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture and Christian Gerhaher performing Arnold Schönberg’s “Das Buch der hängenden Gärten.”

The company will showcase an informal setting for Operetta Bar.
