Korean National Opera Signs Agreement to Stream Live Opera Performances in Hong Kong
By David SalazarThe Korea National Opera has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Korean Cultural Centre in Hong Kong to screen one live performance video per month throughout 2026.
The agreement is intended to introduce international audiences to Korean opera on a regular basis, rather than through one-off events, building sustained engagement with Hong Kong audiences over the course of the year.
Beginning in April, the program will feature 12 works drawn from the company’s repertoire, including productions of “La Traviata” and “La Bohème.” The screenings will take place at the Video Archive within the Korean Cultural Centre and will be free to attend.
The Korea National Opera has been producing video content through its online streaming platform Knomai Opera since 2021, accumulating a library of 53 works to date. The platform has been used to distribute live K-opera performance videos both domestically and internationally, including in Italy.
