Verdi Chorus Set to Present ‘Verdi in España’

The Verdi Chorus will continue its 42nd season with “Verdi in España”

The program, which features choral sequences from Verdi’s “Don Carlo,” “Il Trovatore,” “La Traviata,” and “Ernani,” alongside Bizet’s “Carmen” and selections from Spanish composers Catán, Granados, Giménez, Torroba, and De Falla, will be presented on Saturday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 19 at 4:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Santa Monica.

Three guest soloists will join the ensemble, including soprano Leela Subramaniam, whose credits include the Metropolitan Opera, Bavarian State Opera, LA Opera, and Carnegie Hall; mezzo-soprano Audrey Babcock, acclaimed for a portrayal of “Carmen” performed over 200 times across the United States and Europe; and Filipino-American baritone Roberto Perlas Gómez, who brings more than 100 roles to his credit with opera companies across the US and internationally.

Guitarist Andres Vadin will appear as guest performing artist.
