Opera Carolina Announces Classical Artists Fund
By David SalazarOpera Carolina has announced the launch of the Classical Artists Fund.
The Classical Artists Fund will offer assistance for auditions, training, professional development, emergency support, and lost contract compensation. The program extends beyond singers to include stagehands, union crews, costume and set designers, directors, choreographers, musicians, and other creative professionals.
“Opera is powered by artists whose brilliance often outshines the challenges they face behind the scenes,” said General Director Dr. Shanté Williams, per an official press release. “The Classical Artists Fund is our promise to them—that their work, their wellbeing, and their creative futures matter.”
The fund will make its public debut at “Bella Notte: A New Year’s Eve Masquerade Gala” at The Ballantyne Hotel, inspired by Mozart’s “The Magic Flute.” That event, which will take place on Dec. 31, 2025, features live music, dancing, and a masquerade atmosphere, with Charlotte party band InfiniteSoul and Opera Carolina’s Resident Company performing the “Queen of the Night” aria.
