Opera in Williamsburg Announces ‘FED-SHUDOWN’ Discounts on Tickets for Upcoming Performances

Opera in Williamsburg, Virginia, is offering special “FED-SHUDOWN” pay-what-you-can (PWYC) tickets for its upcoming Nov. 7, 2025 performance of Gluck’s “Orfeo ed Euridice” at the Kimball Theatre. Countertenor

The opera will star Nicholas Tamagna as Orfeo alongside Maria Brea as Euridice and Laura Leon as Amore. Maestro Jorge Parodi leads the orchestra, with Zahavi-Ely directing.

“We would hate for any opera lovers to miss this beautiful performance because of financial concerns in this unusual time,” said company Artistic and General Director Naama Zahavi-Ely, per an official press release.  “Anybody affected by the shutdown is invited to enjoy this offer, even if they can’t pay anything right now.   No questions asked.  We want them to enjoy Gluck’s timeless masterpiece.  When their lives return to normal, they can send us a donation if they wish.”

Performance dates are November 7 at 7:30 p.m. and November 9 at 2:30 p.m. at the Kimball Theatre, Williamsburg, Virginia. The November 7 performance is eligible for the PWYC offer.

Virginia Opera and Opera Colorado recently announced that they would offer complimentary tickets as a result of the shutdown.
