Opera Orlando has announced that it will be offering its performances of “All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914” at Orlando Family Stage, for free.

The opera, written by Peter Rothstein with vocal arrangements by Erick Lichte and Timothy C. Takach, runs from Dec. 12–14, 2025. The decision to offer free performances is a gift to the Central Florida community and will also set them up for the company’s upcoming mainstage production of Kevin Puts and Mark Campbell’s “Silent Night” at Steinmetz Hall on Feb. 6 and 8, 2026.

“All Is Calm” explores the true story of the World War I Christmas Truce, when German, British, French, and Scottish soldiers laid down their arms to share songs, friendship, and peace. The work is performed entirely a cappella, weaving together soldiers’ letters and firsthand accounts into a moving choral narrative of humanity amidst conflict. The cast includes Chris Teixeira, John Teixeira, Stephen Mumbert, and Torlef Borsting. Ian Silverman directs in his company debut, and Andrew Minear conducts.

“It was such a joy developing our original production of All Is Calm, and I am so happy we are bringing it back and sharing it for free,” said General Director Gabriel Preisser, per an official press release. “It’s a message of hope and peace that resonates deeply with our community.
