The Paris Opera is set to celebrate two anniversaries and will bring together some of the greatest stars in the world. However, this season will also be special because it will feature stars making house debuts as well as role debuts. In one case, there will also be a world premiere. Barbara Hannigan – Berenice

Coloratura soprano Hannigan continues her exploration of modern music and this time she makes a rare stop at the Paris Opera in Michael Jarrell’s new opera. As one of the most sought-after sopranos and recent Grammy winner, this is a performer you won’t want to miss.

Brian Jagde – La Forza del Destino  

American tenor Jagde makes his long-anticipated house debut in one of Verdi’s most demanding roles, Don Alvaro. The tenor also makes his role debut alongside Anja Harteros with whom he triumphed with this past season in “Tosca.” Hailed for his “pliant tone,” Jagde is one of the great spinto tenors you won’t want to miss this season.

Elīna Garanča – Les Troyens 

After singing some of the most demanding lyric mezzo roles, Garanča finally takes a stab at Berlioz’s masterpiece in the role of Didon. As one of the most popular mezzo’s out there this a role debut fans and opera lovers alike won’t want to miss.

Diana Damrau – Les Huguenots

Last year Damrau released one of the most acclaimed CD’s of the year. The CD was dedicated to the music of Meyerbeer and OperaWire noted it was an “Extraordinary” album. Now Damrau takes on the composer’s work in what should be a great vehicle for the coloratura soprano.

Pretty Yende – La Traviata  

Over the past years, Yende has developed into one of the most promising lyric sopranos of her time. This season, she will take on her biggest challenge yet singing her first Verdi role in a new production. With her charisma, she should easily charm as the iconic Violetta.
