Orquesta Sinfónica EAFIT To Present Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater

On March 23, the Orquesta Sinfónica EAFIT will perform Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater.

The performance will be conducted by Juan Pablo Valencia and will be headed by soprano Sandra Lorena Caicedo and Monica Danilov.

Caicedo is a renowned soprano known in Colombia for her work in numerous operatic roles and concert arias. She has performed in numerous festivals in the Festival de Ópera al Parque and won the 2006 competition. She also participated in the Concurso Internacional Julián Gayarre and at the Internacional Francesco Viñas competition. She teaches at the Universidad de Antioquia.

Mezzo-soprano Danilov is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, who has been featured in OperaNews and has performed such roles as Maria Rainer von Trapp in “La Novicia Rebelde,” a new Spanish-language production of “The Sound of Music” in Bogotá, Colombia. She has performed at the Kennedy Center, David Geffen Hall, and the Teatro Colón in Bogota. She recently performed in the Teatro Mayor’s production of the “Rise and Fall of the City Of Mahagonny” and in a production of “Florencia en el Amazonas.”

The concert takes place in the Teatro Fundadores in Medellin, Colombia.
